Film Movement visits ‘Three Worlds’

Gotham shingle gets North American rights to French drama

New York-based Film Movement has acquired North-American rights to Contemporary World Cinema contender “Three Worlds,” a French drama helmed by Catherine Corsini.

“Worlds,” repped and produced by Pyramide, opened at Cannes in Un Certain Regard.

The Paris-set contempo melodrama delves into the lives of a young car dealer, a medical school student and an undocumented Moldovan immigrant, which collide in the aftermath of a tragic hit-and-run accident.

It stars two up-and-coming French thesps : Clotilde Hesme, who won a Cesar – Gaul’s top film award — for her perf in Alix Delaporte’s “Angele and Tony,” and Raphael Personnaz (“The Princess of Montpensier”).

A well-known Gallic director, Corsini’s credits include Kristin Scott Thomas starrer “Leaving,” which also competed in Toronto.

“Catherine Corsini has come back to Toronto after three years, with another strong, complex film about human emotions and moral dilemmas,” said Rebeca Conget, Film Movement’s VP of acquisitions and distribution. “Raphael Personnaz gives a tortured performance that won’t leave any audience member indifferent.”

Eric Lagesse’s Pyramide Intl. is handling sales on two other films playing in the contemporary world cinema section : Aida Begic’s “Children of Sarajevo,” Catherine Corsini’s “Three Worlds,” and Benjamin Avila’s “Clandestine Childhood.”

Film Movement, a full-service North-American distributor launched in 2003 by Gartenstein, boasts its own VOD platform, Film Festival on Demand.
