Film Movement acquires ‘Eva’

Toronto pic set for 2013 limited release, VOD bow

Film Movement has acquired North American rights to Michiel ten Horn’s dark comedy “The Deflowering of Eva Van End.”

“Eva,” the debut feature from the Dutch director, had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September.

“Eva” will open in New York in the second quarter of 2013 with a limited national rollout to follow as well as a day-and-date VOD premiere.

Story centers on a dysfunctional family that gets turned on its head when an exchange student moves in for two weeks. The five family members begin to reinvent themselves, led by the former wallflower Eva, the youngest at 15.

The acquisition was negotiated by Film Movement’s Rebeca Conget and Anne Wiedlack and Maren Kroymann of M-Appeal.
