MOSCOW Estonia is using Cannes as the launch pad for its new film commission promising international producers ”undiscovered European locations” in the tiny Baltic state.
FilmEstonia.eu will be a one-stop website offering producers and directors free scouting trips to Estonia with a focus on low- to mid-budget film and TV productions from Europe, Russia and Asia.
The film commission will provide filmmakers with local and national contacts, help guide them through red tape and is lobbying for local funding incentives expected to roll out beginning in 2013.
Martin Aadamsoo, head of FilmEstonia.eu, said the commission aims to position Estonia as a ”highly efficient, low-cost and high-tech European destination with undiscovered locations and four seasons.”
