eOne nabs De Palma’s ‘Passion’

Company plans an early 2013 release in the U.S. and Canada

Entertainment One has nabbed North American distribution rights in all media to writer-director Brian De Palma’s thriller “Passion,” the company announced Friday.

Deal was negotiated by Paris-headquartered SBS Prods.’ Said Ben Said and Sejin Croninger, eOne Film North America prexy David Reckziegel and ICM Partners, which also represents the director.

The company plans an early 2013 theatrical release in the U.S. and Canada.

“Passion,” based on Alain Corneau’s 2010 French thriller “Love Crime,” stars Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace as an ad exec and her assistant who become locked in a power struggle.

Pic preemed in competition at Venice and at the Toronto Film Festival.
