Endgame Entertainment and FilmDistrict will co-finance thriller “Selfless,” jointly acquiring the screenplay by Alex Pastor and David Pastor (“Carriers”).
Endgame Entertainment CEO James D. Stern and FilmDistrict’s Peter Schlessel will produce alongside Ram Bergman. They teamed previously on Rian Johnson’s “Looper” and “The Brothers Bloom.”
“Selfless” centers on a wealthy older man who discovers he’s dying and pays to have his mind transplanted into a younger man’s body. When he discovers how his new body was acquired, he defies the company that provided it and is hunted by mercenaries.
“‘Selfless’ is a unique high-concept thriller and exactly what we’re looking for,” Stern said.
Endgame is in post-production on sci-fier “Looper,” starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis and Emily Blunt, which Sony/FilmDistrict will distribute domestically on Sept. 28. The company’s also in production on Steven Soderbergh’s “The Bitter Pill,” starring Channing Tatum, Rooney Mara, Jude Law, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Vinessa Shaw.
“‘Selfless’ is a great follow-up to our collaboration with Endgame on ‘Looper,'” Schlessel said.
FilmDistrict’s next release is “Safety Not Guaranteed” on June 8, followed by “Looper,” “Red Dawn” on Nov. 21 and “Playing the Field” on Christmas.
The Pastor brothers are repped by CAA, Kaplan/Perrone Entertainment and attorney Karl Austen of Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer Austen Mandelbaum Morris & Klein.
