'Raven' preems at the Los Angeles Theater

Once upon a midnight dreary, Relativity Media, Intrepid Pictures and FilmNation Entertainment picked the perfect venue for the preem of “The Raven,” with stars John Cusack, Luke Evans and Alice Eve flocking downtown to the Los Angeles Theater on Monday night.

Cusack jumped at the opportunity to play Edgar Allan Poe. “He started so many genres,” said the thesp. “I like straight horror, but my favorite is his more absurd, metaphysical stuff like ‘King Pest’ and ‘Masque of the Red Death.’ Those are my favorites. ‘Imp of the Perverse,’ ‘Hop-Frog.’ He did everything — you can pick the influence.”

“The Raven” filmed all over Eastern Europe, which helmer James McTeigue said “wasn’t too bad, but spooky enough. Alice Eve would probably tell you that being stuck inside a box getting dirt thrown at her was probably spooky for her, but there was no ghost of Poe lingering over us.”
