Drafthouse to bow ‘Bullhead’

Foreign-lingo nominee set for Feb. 17 rollout in eight theaters

Drafthouse Films will open “Bullhead,” a nominee for the foreign-language Oscar, on Feb. 17 at eight theaters in Austin, Los Angeles and New York.

“Bullhead,” the feature debut of writer-director Michael R. Roskam, was acquired by Drafthouse following its U.S. premiere at Fantastic Fest, where it won best picture in the Next Wave Competition. Roskam was named one of Variety’s “10 Directors to Watch.”

Story is set in Belgium and stars Matthias Schoenaerts as a farmer who initiates a shady deal with a notorious meat trader.

“Bullhead” is the second film released by Drafthouse Films, following “Four Lions.” Drafthouse Films is part of the Alamo Drafthouse theater chain, which has 13 locations in Texas and Virginia.
