Dimension takes rights on ‘Dark Skies’

Jason Blum to produce supernatural thriller

Dimension Films has acquired North American distribution rights to supernatural thriller “Dark Skies” from writer Scott Stewart, who will direct.

Jason Blum will produce the pic through his Blumhouse Prods. banner along with Alliance Films. Alliance will fully finance the pic while Brian Kavanaugh-Jones Alliance’s Charles Layton will exec produce. Distrib will unspool “Dark” in Canada as well as in the U.K. and Spain through its Momentum Pictures and Aurum subsids, respectively.

IM Global’s genre label Octane will handle international sales at Cannes this year. Filmmakers are keeping the logline under wraps for the pic that will begin shooting this summer.

Dimension prexy of business and legal affairs Andrew Kramer and Layton negotiated the deal. WME and Anonymous Content rep Stewart, whose writing and helming credits include Screen Gems’ “Priest” and “Legion.”
