Brazil’s Dezenove Som e Imagems is teaming with Madrid’s Aqui y Alli to produce “Saudade,” Antonio Mendez Esparza’s follow-up to 2012 Cannes’ Critics’ Week winner “Aqui y alla.”
Dezenove put up minority equity on the largely Spain-set immigration tale involving a mother and son, which rolls January. “Saudade’s” second-act sees the mother, now a Madrid prostitute, return to her native Parana, Mendez said Friday at Small Is Beautiful, a Spain-France co-production meet in Paris held under the auspices of Different! 5, an alternative Spanish film fest.
The meet showcased six Spanish projects, all with production/director pedigrees.
Small is Beautiful was organized by Espagnolas en Paris and backed by the Ile de France Film Commission and Spain’s ICAA Film Institute and Cervantes Institute.
