Robert De Niro and Mira Nair will be among panelists at the Doha Tribeca Film Festival’s Doha Talks, fest directors announced Monday.
The fourth DTFF will also host the Middle East and North Africa bow of Ben Affleck’s “Argo” at a gala screening on Nov. 21. Pic follows the behind-the-scenes drama of the 1979 Iran hostage crisis and has earned $60 million in its three weeks of international release.
A series of panels and Q&As, Doha Talks includes the Industry Events, which are open to people in the biz and will examine trends and emerging talent.
With “In Conversation With Robert De Niro,” the filmmaker will discuss his career.
Nair will review the making of her “The Reluctant Fundamentalist,” which opens the fest, a journey that spanned three continents.
Several talks will also be open to the public and dissect key issues, both regional and worldwide, in filmmaking. They include “Going Global: Can Bollywood Films Really Cross Over?” and “Transmedia: Storytelling in the Digital Age.”
Other panelists will include filmmakers Hayfa Al Mansour and Michael Singh, and producers Titus Kreyenberg.
DTFF, the annual culmination of year-round events of the Doha Film Institute, will run Nov. 17-24.
