The odds are forever in the favor of “Pretty Little Liars” thesp Brant Daugherty, who’s landed one of the lead roles in “The Starving Games,” the latest spoof from the filmmaking team of Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer.
Peter Safran of The Safran Company is producing the parody pic, which will also take aim at “The Avengers,” “Sherlock Holmes” and the finale of the “Harry Potter” franchise. Daugherty will play Dale, a brooding teen heartthrob in the mold of Liam Hemsworth’s character Gale in “The Hunger Games.”
Friedberg and Seltzer are writing and directing the comedy, which starts production early next month in New Orleans.
Duo started out writing genre send-ups “Spy Hard” and “Scary Movie” before going on to write, direct and produce the Hollywood spoofs “Date Movie,” “Epic Movie,” “Disaster Movie,” “Meet the Spartans” and “Vampires Suck.” Their films have collectively grossed more than $350 million worldwide.
Daugherty is best known for his recurring roles on ABC Family’s “Pretty Little Liars” and NBC’s “Days of Our Lives.” He’s represented by AKA Talent Agency and Sweeney Entertainment.
