Titles to get fest treatment before VOD bow

Joel Silver’s Dark Castle Home Entertainment and Courtney Solomon’s After Dark Films are teaming on new action movie franchise “After Dark Action,” which includes five films featuring international stars such as Jean Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren, Peter Weller, Jim Caviezel, Cung Le and Christian Slater.

“After Dark Action” will showcase the movies theatrically as a commercial film festival in markets nationwide before the lineup hits VOD on May 11.

“After many years with the Horrorfest ’8 Films to Die For’ and ‘After Dark Originals’ brands, we are excited to expand into the action film arena,” said Solomon. “Our mission is to create innovative, first-rate entertainment for action lovers everywhere.”

“Helping Courtney and After Dark put these films together has been a great experience,” said Silver. “The audience is in for a treat.”

The first generation of “After Dark Action” includes Antonio Negret’s “Transit,” starring Caviezel; John Hyams’ “Dragon Eyes,” starring Van Damme, Le and Weller; Jason Connery’s “Philly Kid,” starring Neal McDonough and Devon Sawa; and two films from director Eduardo Rodriguez: Lundgren starrer “Stash House” and Slater starrer “El Gringo,” written by Jonathan W. Stokes (“Murders & Acquisitions”).
