'iLL Manors' earns two prizes at French showcase for U.K. films

LONDON — James Marsh’s “Shadow Dancer” won three awards at the 23rd Dinard British Film Festival, France’s leading showcase for U.K. cinema, on Saturday, while “iLL Manors,” the directing debut of rapper Plan B, aka Ben Drew, won two.

“Shadow Dancer” received the Golden Hitchcock award for best film, which provides financial help to the French distributor and the filmmaker. It also claimed the Cine Plus Award, which offers a promotional campaign on Cine Plus Channels on release, and the Prix Public audience award.

“iLL Manors” took the Heartbreak Award and will receive distribution support. It also received the Technicolor Award for best cinematography.

The Allianz Award for screenplay was awarded to Glenn Patterson and Colin Carberry for “Good Vibrations.”

The jury was chaired by French actor and singer Patrick Bruel.
