eOne sets release for David Cronenberg film

Entertainment One will open David Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis” in the U.S. on Aug. 17, three months after its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, with launches in New York and Los Angeles before expanding into additional markets.

Based on the novel by Don DeLillo, “Cosmpolis” follows a financial whiz kid and billionaire asset manager as he heads out in his stretch limo and encounters city riots, a parade of provocative visitors and a myriad of intimate encounters.

Robert Pattinson stars along with Juliette Binoche, Sarah Gadon, Mathieu Amalric, Jay Baruchel, Kevin Durand, K’Naan and Emily Hampshire. “Cosmopolis” is produced by Paulo Branco of Alfama Films and Martin Katz of Prospero Pictures and is co-produced by Gregoire Melin of Kinology.

Pic opens this weekend in Canada via eOne and in the U.K. on June 15.
