Content enlists ‘Ironclad: Battle for Blood’

Jonathan English, Steven McDool pen sequel

Content has acquired worldwide rights to the medieval battle sequel “Ironclad: Battle for Blood.”

Shooting is due to begin in the summer on “Battle for Blood,” written by Jonathan English and Steven McDool. Rick Benattar, Andrew Curtis and English will produce through their Mythic International Entertainment.

Story will center on one of the few survivors of the Great Siege of Rochester Castle fighting to protect his family’s estate from fierce Celtic raiders. Stars of last year’s “Ironclad” included James Purefoy, Brian Cox, Kate Mara and Derek Jacobi.

Content’s Jamie Carmichael said: “‘Ironclad’ has already sold close to 250,000 DVDs in the U.K. alone — and that massive success has been repeated all over the world. With ‘Ironclad: Battle for Blood,’ we intend to bring back the same high quality of production and performance — along with the epic, ultra violent swordplay that so distinguished the original.”
