Clooney, Heslov to produce ‘August: Osage’

Weinstein Co. play adaptation is directed by John Wells

George Clooney and “The Ides of March” scribe Grant Heslov have come on board to produce The Weinstein Company drama “August: Osage County.”

Clooney and Heslov previously worked on “March,” helmed by Heslov.

“County” is an adaptation of of the Pulitzer Prize and Tony award-winning play by Tracy Letts in which Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts are set to star. Pic tells the story of the strong-willed women of the Weston family brought back to the Midwest house they grew up in by a family crisis.

John Wells will direct from Letts’ screen adaptation.

“Grant and I are thrilled to work on this project. It’s already a great cast and great material and I can’t think of anyone better than Harvey to put this all together,” Clooney said in a TWC statement.
