Cinema Guild acquires ‘Viola’

Mattias Pineiro's pic to receive limited theatrical rollout next year

The Cinema Guild has acquired U.S. distribution rights to Mattias Pineiro’s “Viola,” two months after the movie premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in the Wavelengths section.

“Viola” will receive a limited theatrical rollout next year followed by a DVD/VOD release.

Set in Buenos Aires, “Viola” follows a group of young actresses who are performing in a local production of William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night,” while unraveling an intricate web of romantic intrigue and revelation.

Pineiro’s previous work includes “The Stolen Man,” “They All Lie” and the first two films of his Shakespeare project, short film “Rosalinda” (2010), and “Viola.” He is currently developing the third installment, “The Princesa of France.”

The deal was negotiated by Ryan Krivoshey of The Cinema Guild with Pineiro.
