SAG Preview: Actors on Actors - Hemsworth on Schoenaerts
Most of the time you find yourself observing a character from the outside. Occasionally, you are forced to sit in the driver’s seat and not only empathize with but justify actions, regardless of how questionable they may be.Through a remarkably unselfconscious and open performance, Schoenaerts brings a refreshing take to the “hero.” Not at any point did I see him attempting to map out a journey or retreat into cliched “movie moments,” just beat by beat and absolutely truthful at every step. No matter what he did or how brutal his actions, I was right there with him because of the honesty and vulnerability he brought to the character. It was raw and unpredictable. I am a fan.
