China Film Group, Martini play ‘Urban Games’

Extreme sports pic shoots next month in China

China Film Group is partnering with Los Angeles-based Martini Films on “Urban Games,” a Chinese-language drama set in the world of extreme sports, with shooting starting next month in China.

“Urban Games,” the directorial debut for American stuntman Bob Brown, is produced by Johnny Martin’s via his Martini Films banner and Chinese producer Dong Yang.

Script by Brown is centered on a young man recovering from the loss of his brother in an base-jumping accident who must enter into an underground extreme sports competition in order to find his missing sister.

Shawn Dou, Michelle Chen, Ji Sub So and Ashton Chen are starring.

Shujin Lan of China Film Group told Variety that upon completion of the film, the producers plan to make a sequel and seek a U.S. co-financier to make the film an U.S.-Chinese co-production.
