‘Catching Fire’ to shoot scenes for Imax

Lionsgate to release film worldwide on Nov. 22, 2013

Lionsgate’s “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” will be released in Imax theaters with scenes shot in the Imax format.

The companies announced Wednesday that director Francis Lawrence will utilize Imax cameras in filming portions of the second film in the “Hunger Games” franchise.

Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-chairs Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger said, “Our partnership on the first ‘Hunger Games’ film was a resounding success, and we look forward to building on that experience with an expanded Imax relationship on ‘Catching Fire.'”

“Catching Fire” will be digitally remastered for release in the Imax format.

Lionsgate will release the film worldwide on Nov. 22, 2013. The first pic has grossed nearly $700 million worldwide.
