LONDON — New U.K. film and television finance company Cascade Pictures has entered first-look deals with U.K.-based production company Pari Passu Films, and London and L.A.-based production and production services company Culmination Prods., it was announced Friday.Cascade CEO Mark Fisher said, “(Pari Passu and Culmination) are young companies with exciting plans and projects, and crucially, the expertise and knowledge to make these a reality.” Set up in January by Fisher, former chief financial officer of the Icon U.K. Group, Cascade will provide financial and production expertise and support from theatrical and home entertainment distribution through to international sales, production and financing. Cascade’s senior management is made up of Fisher, chief operating officer Cora Palfrey, who joined from Exclusive Media Group, where she was European chief finance officer, and acquisitions and development executive Daniel Campos Pavoncelli, who joined from Fandango Portobello, the sales arm of Italian production company Fandango. The company is in the final stages of preparing to launch production and development funds, with a central tenet of their business plan to source new and emerging talent. They already have a script development fund set up through Cascade Media Development in the form of a Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme fund. Pari Passu Films was established in 2011 by producer Jessica Parker and former sales executive Jessica Malik. The pair recently executive produced low-budget genre film “January,” partnering with Room 101 and Face Films. Malik served as executive producer on Eran Riklis’ “Zaytoun,” which receives its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival Sept. 9. Culmination Prods. was set up by Tom Butterfield, formerly of the U.K. Film Council’s New Cinema Fund, with producer Emily Man, who recently completed “Jump,” a romantic drama that won best film at the British Independent Film Festival.
