Carl Franklin set to helm ‘City of Night’

Cop thriller co-financed by Meyers Media, McDonald Entertainment

Meyers Media Group and McDonald Entertainment have stepped up to co-finance new cop thriller “City of Night,” and have set Carl Franklin to direct.

Script by David Chisholm follows a rookie LAPD cop in the city’s toughest crime unit who’s drawn into a web of deceit by a corrupt veteran. Brendan McDonald of McDonald Entertainment and Jesse B’Franklin will produce; Lawrence Meyers (“Unfaithful”) and Randy Dannenberg of Meyers Media Group will exec produce.

Franklin (“High Crimes,” “Out of Time”) has kept busy of late directing television fare, including the premiere episode of Starz series “Magic City,” the TNT drama “Falling Skies” and an episode of the HBO miniseries “The Pacific.”

Producers plan to announce a lensing date for “City of Night” soon.
