Catherine Paura, co-founder and co-chief exec of the National Research Group, has formed Capstone Global Marketing and Research Group as a Los Angeles-based marketing research and consulting firm.
“Today’s movie marketplace has changed,” Paura said in the announcement. “We need the research paradigm to adapt accordingly.”
Paura and the late Joseph “Joe” Farrell founded NRG in 1978. They sold the firm in 2003 after introducing the concept of market testing to Hollywood and set up the FPP banner, which produced “Joyful Noise” for Alcon along with providing market research for Disney’s Dick Cook.
“I am excited by this new venture,” Paura said. “Just as audiences have evolved, figuring out how to reach them successfully is a process that has also changed. I am committed to preserving the best traditional research tactics but also to using a slate of Capstone’s newly developed analytical tools.”
Paura’s sister, Angela Paura, will serve as Capstone’s president and chief operating officer. Previously, Angela Paura served as NRG’s COO and as chief exec of Advanced Marketing Perspectives, which will become part of Capstone.
Catherine Paura told Variety that most of the majors are already clients of Advanced Marketing Perspectives.
