Canon teams for filmmaker award program

Cameramaker will select from LAFF, Spirit nominees

Canon USA has teamed up with Film Independent — the nonprofit group behind the Los Angeles Film Festival and the Spirit awards — to launch the Canon Filmmaker Award Program.

Winners of the competition, open to Film Independent fellows, LAFF alums and Spirit Award nominees and winners, will be lent Canon Cinema EOS C300 camera packages to use on their next feature-length narrative or documentary pics (or short films, in special cases). Applications will be accepted quarterly; the fall period opened Monday and will remain open for submissions until Aug. 1.
