Byrne, Weaving, Otto join ‘Turning’

Cate Blanchett, Mia Wasikowska among directors

Rose Byrne (“Damages”), Hugo Weaving (“The Hobbit”) and Miranda Otto (“Cashmere Mafia”) have joined the cast of Australian portmanteau pic “The Turning,” which LevelK is selling at the AFM.

The film, which is based on Tim Winton’s collection of short stories, is to be helmed by 17 Oz directors, including Cate Blanchett, Mia Wasikowska, Cate Shortland and Anthony Lucas.

The stories, which link and overlap, revolve around turning points in the lives of the people of the coastal town of Angelus, Western Australia.

The cast also include Callan Mulvey, Susie Porter and Harrison Gilbertson.

LevelK’s AFM slate also includes psychological thriller “The Stranger Inside,” which toplines William Baldwin, and Peter Hewitt’s laffer “33 Liberty Lane,” starring Emily Watson, Sandra Oh, Melora Hardin and Nia Vardalos.
