Company will license, release movies
Brainstorm Media is looking to unleash Fangoria, striking a deal for exclusive licensing rights to movies that will then be released under the Fangoria brand.Brainstorm, an independent aggregator of movies for cable, satellite, telephone and Internet platforms, will begin seeking titles at Cannes for the Fangoria brand with Steve Break of Naedomi Media. Brainstorm president Meyer Shwarzstein told Variety that the branding plan will aid horror fans in selecting titles from a plethora of available films, particularly in VOD. Fangoria magazine began publishing in 1979 and has licensed books, videos, DVDs, games, trading cards, foreign editions, TV specials, national horror conventions and motion pictures. It has been developing a package of theatrical productions including the remake of “Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things.” Steven Mackler helped broker the deal on behalf of Fangoria with Shwarzstein.
