Longtime a.d. upped to festival director

The Nantucket Film Festival has upped Mystelle Brabbee to the position of festival director, replacing Colin Stanfield, who stepped down in August after four years in the post.

Brabbee has been affiliated with the fest for almost all of its 17-year existence. She spent that last decade as artistic director, in which capacity she oversaw the lineup and curated the fest’s live programs, and was the film program director for the prior six years.

In the wake of Brabbee’s promotion, Bill Curran has been tapped to serve as festival producer and Daniela Bajar is now film program director and educational director.

The annual Nantucket fest programs films alongside live events including a screenwriter tribute, a comedy roundtable, and a staged reading series. This year’s edition included pics “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” “Sleepwalk with Me,” “Your Sister’s Sister” and “Brave,” while Nancy Meyers was honored with the fest’s screenwriter tribute.

The 2013 edition of the festival is set for June 26-30.
