Post-production, vfx shingle adds Santa Monica base
LONDON — London-based post-production and vfx company MPC is set to open a pre-production studio in Santa Monica.
MPC (formerly known as the Moving Picture Co.) will be headed by previs supervisor Duane Floch (“Rise of the Planet of the Apes”) and MPC’s L.A.-based executive producer Julian Levi.
“We are excited to have the ability to work directly with L.A.-based filmmakers on previs and conceptual development in the early stages of production, and later in the production process collaborating on postvis,” said Levi. “The Santa Monica studio will act as a hub for MPC’s global facilities.”
MPC managing director of film, Christian Roberton, said, “Over recent years we have seen our involvement in projects start earlier and earlier in the production cycle. Previs is one tool that helps filmmakers plan not only the vfx and production aspects of a project, but also the budget.”
MPC also has facilities in New York, Vancouver and Bangalore, India.
Its recent credits include “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Parts 1 and 2,” “Prometheus,” “John Carter” and upcoming blockbusters “Skyfall,” “World War Z” and “Man of Steel.”
