Berlinale launches Native

Fest focuses on indigenous cinema

MOSCOW — The Berlinale is going native in 2013 with a focus on indigenous cinema as a key component of its non-competitive sidebars.

A program titled “Native — A Journey through Indigenous Cinema,” which includes screenings, panel discussions and other events, will be devoted to cinema that tells the stories of indigenous people from around the world.

The focus will include features, shorts and documentaries curated at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele by a number of experts who are themselves of indigenous descent.
