Bekmambetov joins Rome jury

Fest adds 'Black Star,' 'Tom Le Cancre' to lineup

The Rome Film Festival has announced its full jury roster, comprising Russian helmer Timur Bekmambetov (“Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”), and also added two titles to its lineup.

U.S. critic and Edinburgh fest topper Chris Fujiwara; Aussie helmer P.J. Hogan; Argentinian auteur Edgardo Cozarinsky; Italian actress Valentina Cervi; and Iranian actress Leila Hatami round off the Rome jury.

Rome jury prexy is U.S. helmer Jeff Nichols (“Mud”), as previously announced.

“Black Star,” a docudrama by first-time helmer Francesco Castellani, about a Rome soccer team whose members are all political refugees, and “Tom Le Cancre,” a rite-of-passage pic, helmed by Gaul’s Manuel Pradal, involving children wandering in a strange forest, are the two Rome additions, both out-of-competish.

Fest runs Nov. 9-17.
