‘Argo’ ensemble honored at Palm Springs fest

Affleck, Arkin, Cranston expected to attend

The critically acclaimed thriller “Argo” will be honored with the ensemble performance award from the 24th Palm Springs International Film Festival, to be held Jan. 3-14.

Several of the movie’s stars, including helmer and star Ben Affleck, Alan Arkin and Bryan Cranston, are slated to accept the award at the fest’s gala on Jan.5.

” ‘Argo’ features a plethora of colorful characters brought to life by an outstanding acting ensemble,” said fest chairman Harold Matzner. “Directing what is, unquestionably, his most accomplished film to date, Ben Affleck leads an extraordinary cast, also including Alan Arkin, John Goodman and Bryan Cranston, each of whom delivers powerhouse performances.”

“Argo” examines the formerly classified covert operation to rescue six Americans amid the Iran hostage crisis, a task that required strategizing and cooperation between the CIA and Hollywood.
