ARC gets in the ring with ‘Nitro Circus’

First feature from Johnny Knoxville's action sports collective

ARC Entertainment has acquired worldwide rights to the action-adventure pic “Nitro Circus The Movie 3D,” which will receive a wide theatrical release on Aug. 10. Pic will also be distributed in 2D.

Pic is the first feature film from action sport collective Nitro Circus, which was created by Gregg Godfrey, Jeremy Rawle, Jeff Tremaine, Travis Pastrana, Johnny Knoxville and Trip Taylor.

Godfrey and Rawle handled directing duties, and they also produced with Dave Hunter of Godfrey Entertainment, in collaboration with Red Bull Media House. Bill Gerber (“The Dukes of Hazzard”) exec produced with Wasserman exec David Brooks and Godfrey’s Jared Knight.

ARC Entertainment will partner with with Red Bull Media House and Wasserman Media Group to market and distribute the film.

Industry vet Dennis Rice will oversee that marketing and distribution, which will include working closely with partners DC Shoes and Skullcandy.

ARC Entertainment prexy Rich Goldberg, who negotiated the deal on behalf of the company, will oversee international distribution.

Pastrana stars along Nitro Circus members Jolene Van Vugt, Streetbike Tommy, Erik Roner, Special Greg, Jim DeChamp, Aaron “Wheelz” Fotheringham and Parks Bonifay, while Knoxville makes a special appearance.

Pic follows the gang as they perform dangerous stunts in the world of action sports, from trying to back-flip a bike over a skyscraper to landing a death-defying jump while playing ‘Angry Birds.’

“Nitro Circus” debuted on MTV in 2009 and went on to spawn an ongoing series of live world tours that have earned more than $30 million in ticket revenue since 2010. They have sold more than one million DVDs worldwide, and the Nitro Circus live TV show currently airs on MTV2.
