Amy Adams not afraid of ‘Dark Places’

Gilles Paquet-Brenner to helm indie drama

Amy Adams is in negotiations to star in an adaptation of the Gillian Flynn novel “Dark Places” that Gilles Paquet-Brenner (“Sarah Keys”) will direct from his own script.

Story revolves around a woman who, at the age of 7, survived the massacre of her family and testified against her brother as the murderer. Twenty-five years later, a group obsessed with solving notorious crimes confronts her with questions about the crime.

Stephane Marsil is producing through Hugo Prods. along with Peter Safran. Kinology will handle international sales.

Adams has stayed busy in the last year and continues to balance her slate between smaller prestige pics and commercial fare. She recently wrapped production on two big Warner Bros. projects, “Man of Steel” and “Trouble With the Curve,” the latter with Clint Eastwood, and is currently shooting the untitled Spike Jonze project.

The actress can also be seen this fall in Paul Thomas Anderson’s “The Master” with Philip Seymour Hoffman.

The WME- and Brillstein Entertainment-repped Adams has also found time for a little theater work with “Into the Woods” this summer as part of Shakespeare in the Park at the Delacorte.
