AMC to unspool Japan doc

Proceeds from 'Pray' go to NGO

Helmer-producer Stu Levy has partnered with AMC Theaters to release his docu “Pray for Japan” in 14 North American cities for a single-screening engagement on March 14.

“Pray for Japan,” which centers on four perspectives of last year’s Great East Japan Earthquake, preems March 6 in Tokyo, with all proceeds benefiting the charity Japan Emergency NGO (JEN).

Pic’s domestic engagement commemorates the one-year anniversary of the earthquake and tsunami that devastated northern Japan and triggered global fears of a major nuclear power plant accident. Proceeds from the domestic screenings will also benefit JEN.

“We’re honored to partner with Stu Levy to bring these powerful stories, told through ‘Pray for Japan,’ to our screens,” said AMC prexy of programming Robert J. Lenihan.

Among the markets set to showcase “Pray for Japan” are New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Atlanta, Dallas, Seattle, Chicago, Washington, D.C., and Toronto.
