AMC, Fever pact for ‘Smiley’

Duo to release Gallagher horror pic in 14 markets

AMC is partnering with Fever Prods. for a release of Michael Gallagher’s horror-thriller “Smiley” on 28 screens in 14 markets including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston and Atlanta.

The film was co-written by Gallagher and Glasgow Phillips (“South Park”). Michael Wormser (“Some Guy Who Kills People”) is the producer.

The trailer has accumulated over 15 million views since its debut.

Story centers on a mentally fragile woman, played by Caitlin Gerard, who learns of an urban legend in which a demented serial killer named “Smiley” can be summoned through the Internet.

Deal was brokered by Michael Gallagher and Michael Wormser for Fever and Nikkole Denson-Randolph for AMC.
