Amanda Seyfried joins ‘Les Miserables’

Actress near deal to play Cosette in Universal film

Amanda Seyfried is in final negotiations to play Cosette in Universal’s adaptation of “Les Miserables.”

Twitchfilm.com first reported that Seyfried would be joining the cast that already includes Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway and Eddie Redmayne.

Tom Hooper will helm; the script by William Nicholson, Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schoenberg adapts the Victor Hugo novel. Story follows Jean Valjean, played by Jackman, the intrepid protagonist on the run during the French Revolution. U has slated the film to bow on Dec. 7.

Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will produce for Working Title alongside Cameron Mackintosh and Debra Hayward.

Seyfried will next be seen in Summit’s “Gone.”

She is repped by Innovative Artists.
