BAFTA series aims to inspire, inform next generation
LONDON — Spanish helmer Pedro Almodovar is set to deliver the British Academy of Film and Television Arts’ annual David Lean film lecture on Nov. 18.
“Pedro Almodovar is one of cinema’s truly original voices with a body of work that includes a number of real cinematic masterpieces,” said BAFTA’s film committee chairman, Nik Powell. “We look forward to a night which will undoubtedly be as funny, warm, lively and original as we have come to expect from one of our great filmmakers and artists.”
The lecture series, now in its 11th year, is funded by the David Lean Foundation, and aims to inspire and inform the next generation of helmers by providing insight into the experiences of vet directors.
Almodovar’s “I’m So Excited” is in post-production and is due for release in 2013. His past pics include “All About My Mother” and “Talk to Her.”
