Coming-of-age dramedy began filming last week
Alicia Silverstone and Billy Burke have come on board to star opposite Amanda (A.J.) Michalka in the coming-of-age comedy-drama “Jesus in Cowboy Boots.”
Scott Dolezal of Tap Water Entertainment is producing along with Sean Gowrie and J. Daniel Bort. Commercials director William Carey is helming from his own script and began shooting last week in Santa Clarita, Calif.
Film centers around a small-town girl, portrayed by Michalka, who struggles with her self absorbed mother, played by Silverstone. She realizes her potential with the help of her imaginary friend The Cowboy, played by Burke, in a community built on an abandoned drive-in movie lot along the Texas-Oklahoma border.
Burke, who stars in the “Twilight” franchise as Charlie Swan, will be in J.J. Abram’s “Revolution” on NBC.
