A touching tribute

Harvey Weinstein receives France's Legion d'Honneur

Harvey Weinstein received France’s Legion d’Honneur Monday night at Gotham’s French Embassy, where guests included Paul Haggis, Bette Midler, Bennett Miller, Charlie Rose and George Soros.

After “The Artist” and now “The Intouchables,” how many more French films are in Harvey’s future?

“As many as I can take, I’m buying by the pound,” he joked at a pre-honors “Intouchables” screening at the Paley Center.

Weinstein also unspooled a black-and-white music video directed by Paul McCartney that alternates shots of Natalie Portman and Johnny Depp lip-syncing and signing (for the hearing impaired) to a McCartney vocal, “My Valentine.”

As to what “intouchable” actually means, Weinstein reveals, “It’s a play on the words: You can’t touch. But you can.”
