Cinema Against AIDS gala to be staged in Antibes
Harvey Weinstein and Karl Lagerfeld will be on the auction block Thursday — offering up the chance to bid on a package to star in a short film that Weinstein will produce and Lagerfeld will direct at amfAR’s annual Cinema Against AIDS gala at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France.
Lagerfeld and Weinstein are among the chairs of the event, along with Alec Baldwin, Janet Jackson, Kylie Minogue, Milla Jovovich, Carine Roitfeld, Michel Hazanavicius and Berenice Bejo.
The gala is traditionally held during the Cannes Film Festival. Its auction has raised more than $70 million for AIDS research in two decades.
Other event chairs include Ron Burkle, Milutin Gatsby, Ryan Kavanaugh, Jean-Jacques Lebel, Michel Litvak, Aishwarya Rai, Vincent Roberti, Caroline Scheufele and amfAR chairman Kenneth Cole.
The gala will include a fashion show curated by fashion icon Carine Roitfeld. The entire collection will be auctioned as a single lot.
