Strand gets ‘Dreams of Life’

Shingle acquires U.S. rights to docu

Strand Releasing has acquired all U.S. rights to Carol Morley’s documentary “Dreams of Life” from Entertainment One.

Pic centers on 38-year-old Joyce Vincent, who died in her apartment above a shopping mall in North London in 2003 and was not discovered until three years later with her heating and her television were still on.

Morley’s credits include the documentary “The Alcohol Years.”

“I knew from the moment I read the anonymous story in the newspaper that I was going to make a film about Joyce Vincent,” said Morley. “I could not let her remain forgotten.”

The film screened at this year’s edition of SXSW. Strand plans for an Aug. 3 opening.

“Dreams of a Life” is presented by Film4 and UK Film Council in association with Shoot for the Moon with the participation of Bord Scannán na hÉireann / Irish Film Board. It is an A Cannon and Morley Production in association with Soho Moon Pictures.

The deal was done between Jon Gerrans of Strand Releasing and Charlotte Mickie of eone films International.
