uMedia expands London-based operations
LONDON Brussels-based uMedia, one of the backers of “The Artist,” has hired former Lakeshore Intl. prexy Peter Rogers to head uConnect, a new London-based sales division.
The outfit will manage international sales and finance for selected uMedia productions and invest in third-party projects.
Rogers’ background includes a seven-year stint as prexy of Lakeshore Intl., the sales and distribution subsidiary of Lakeshore Entertainment.
The company produced, financed and distributed more than 40 pics ranging from “Million Dollar Baby” to “Runaway Bride.”
Most recently, Rogers was prexy of Omega Entertainment, a production, finance and distribution company. It produced Tony Goldwyn’s “Conviction,” which Rogers exec produced.
Rogers has also acted as non-exec director of Oceana Media Finance, a $100 million film fund controlled by insurance giant American Capital, and he also was a former partner in Colbalt Media Group, the m.d. of Chrysalis Films Intl., and a sales and marketing director of J&M Entertainment.
Production, finance, distribution and vfx company uMedia’s credits include Luc Besson-produced “A Monster in Paris” and Jeremie Renier starrer “Cloclo.”
uMedia CEO Adrian Politowski said Rogers’ appointment “will forge important relationships with new international partners and build on our exciting slate of titles.”
Rogers added, in a statement, that “adding international sales and finance is a natural progression in the group’s evolution and will allow us to provide a total film service.”
