Founder of Sundance Institute to be lauded by Houston Cinema Arts Festival on Nov. 9
Robert Redford has been tapped to receive the Levantine Cinema Arts Award from the Houston Cinema Arts Festival.
He will receive the kudo Nov. 9 and participate in a 90-minute conversation at Sundance Cinemas Houston on two facets of his career — his work as film director and as founder and president of the Sundance Institute.
The Sundance Cinemas opened in Houston in 2011.
The fest’s artistic director Richard Herskowitz said, “The Sundance Institute’s programs reflect Robert Redford’s passionate commitment to supporting not just independent filmmakers but also innovative artists in theater, music, and the visual arts.”
The Levantine award is sponsored by Levantine Films, which produced “Amreeka,” a film that was supported by the Sundance Institute.
