Oater in the ozone

Agoura Hills hosts fundraiser for Reyes Adobe site

There’s no shortage of outdoor movie screenings in the summertime, but here’s one not to be missed by Sam Peckinpah buffs.

The Agoura Hills Cultural Arts Council is hosting a 50th anniversary screening of the helmer’s “Ride the High Country” on July 14 in the big-sky environs of the Reyes Adobe Historical Site.

The 1962 oater starring Joel McCrea and Randolph Scott was largely shot in the region (though not strictly in the Reyes Adobe site). The event will also feature a discussion of Peckinpah’s work by David Weddle, author of the bio “If They Move … Kill ‘Em! The Life and Times of Sam Peckinpah,” who is also a writer-producer on the TNT drama “Falling Skies.”

Event is a fundraiser to support the preservation of the site’s 1850 adobe-brick home and museum.
