Shingles nabs UK rights to Gael Garcia Bernal starrer
Network Releasing has snagged U.K. rights to Pablo Larrain’s “No,” starring Gael Garcia Bernal and regular Larrain collaborator Alfredo Castro.
Pic is based on the real-life events surrounding calls for a referendum on Pinochet’s 1988 presidency and sees Garcia Bernal play an advertising exec who devises a campaign to end Pinochet’s dictatorship.
“No” is produced by Chile’s Fabula, founded by Pablo and Juan de Dios Larrain while U.S.-Brazil-based Daniel Marc Dreifuss also takes a producer credit.
Pic is backed by Jeff Skoll’s Participant Media, and represents the company’s first foreign-language film investment.
Paris-based sales company Funny Balloons will handle international sales and first unveiled the pic to buyers in Berlin in February.
