Myriad checks out Essential library

D'Amico's company to rep more than 20 titles internationally

Myriad Pictures has reached an agreement to rep international rights on more than 20 titles in the Essential Entertainment library, including “Red Dog,” “The Expatriate,” “Barney’s Version” and “The Music Never Stopped.”

Myriad made the announcement Friday in Cannes, where it has started selling the titles. Mark Padilla, who was Essential Entertainment’s VP of sales and distribution, joined Myriad Pictures last month and is at the fest.

Myriad CEO Kirk D’Amico told Variety that Essential has decided to leave the sales business and will license international sales rights to future Essential titles on a film-by-film basis.

TWC is releasing “The Expatriate” in the U.S. in October. “Red Dog,” the true story of an Australian hound wandering in the Outback that brings a community together, was a strong performers at Oz’s box office last year with $20 million.
