Starring Audrey Tautou as an unhappily married woman struggling with social pressures, the pic is based on the novel by Francois Mauriac. Previously filmed in 1962 by Georges Franju, the drama also stars Gilles Lellouche, Anais Demoustier and Catherine Arditi.
MPI announced the deal Friday at the Toronto Intl. Film Festival. It plans a theatrical release in major markets in the spring followed by VOD and DVD release.
Miller (1942-2012) was a production manager or assistant director on films by Francois Truffaut and Jean-Luc Godard before launching his own directing career and creating movies such as “Garde a vue,” “The Little Thief,” “Alias Betty” and “A Secret.”
The deal was negotiated by Marie Therese Guirgi of MPI and Gregory Chambet of TF1 International.
