Magnet Releasing lands world on ‘Damned’

Vampire tale preems at Venice Film Festival

Magnet Releasing has acquired world rights to writer-director Xan Cassavetes’ “Kiss of the Damned.”

The erotic vampire film will make its world premiere Friday as the closing-night film of Intl. Critics’ Week at the Venice Film Festival.

Pic stars Josephine de La Baume, Milo Ventimiglia, Roxane Mesquida and Riley Keough.

“Kiss” is a DeerJen/Verisimilitude production in association with Bersin Pictures. It’s produced by Jen Gatien and Alex Orlovsky. Executive producers are Adam S. Bersin, Jacob Pechenik, Riaz Tyab and Jon Vinnik.

Story centers on a beautiful vampire who tries to resist the advances of a human screenwriter but eventually gives in to temptation.

Deal was negotiated for Magnet by Dori Begley and Peter Van Steemburg with the filmmakers, Alex Orlovsky, Jen Gatien and counsel Andre Des Rochers of Gray Krauss Stratford Des Rochers.
