Gallic shingle picks up India film
Ad Vitam has snapped up French rights to “Miss Lovely,” from Indian helmer Ashim Ahluwalia.
Pic, which is being shopped in Cannes by Fortissimo Films, preems in Un Certain Regard on Thursday.
Deal was negotiated by Fortissimo’s exec VP of sales and acquisitions Nicole Mackey and Ad Vitam’s Alexandra Henochsberg and Gregory Gajos.
Set against the seedy “C” movie biz of the 1980s, the underbelly of Bollywood, “Miss Lovely” follows two brothers who turn on each other.
Ahluwalia produced under his Future East banner with Shumona Goel, Sanjay Shah and Pinaki Chatterjee. Pic stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and former Miss India Niharika Singh.
