ROME — Italy’s Ischia Global Film and Music Festival is upping its profile with a bevy of Hollywood pics, including Fox’s 3D fantasy-actioner “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,” and boatloads of talent and industry heavyweights expected.
Other titles now set for local launches from Ischia include “The Paperboy” with helmer Lee Daniels and producer Avi Lerner set to make the trek; “What To Expect When You’re Expecting,” with star Rodrigo Santoro slotted; and Universal’s “Snow White and the Huntsman,” with talents Toby Jones and Lily Cole in tow.
“Vampire” stars Benjamin Walker and Anthony Mackie are also booked for the Italo isle’s non-competitive July 8-15 shindig, which increasingly attracts high-calibre film and music industry crowd thanks to its informality and enjoyable Mediterranean setting off the coast of Naples.
As previously announced, Ischia will host the European preem of Rob Reiner’s dramedy “The Magic of Belle Isle” with Reiner and star Virginia Madsen expected.
On the music side, U.S. mogul Clive Davis will be feted with Ischia’s William Wolton Ischia Legend Award during a gala presented in association with The Recording Academy.
Fest headed by Italo TV journo Pascal Vicedomini will also feature a Global Production Summit and a script mart. Industryites expected to disembark this year include this year’s co-chairs, Paula Wagner and Rick Nicita, Paul Haggis, Terry Gilliam, Fernando Solanas, Bill Monahan, Dante Ferretti and the Taviani brothers.
